
Prof. Hualou Long is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS), Distinguished Professor in the field of Social Sciences of the Ministry of Education of PRC at Guangxi University, and Leading Scientific and Technological Talent of the Ministry of Natural Resources of PRC. He is also the Chair of the Commission on Agricultural Geography and Rural Development in the Geographical Society of China, the Chair of the Working committee on Youth in China Land Science Society, and the Steering Committee Member of the IGU Commission on the Sustainability of Rural Systems. He received a Ph.D. degree from Peking University in 1999. His research interests are China’s rural restructuring, urban–rural development, land use transition, and sustainable land use. Currently, he is serving as the associate editor of Habitat International as well as Journal of Rural Studies. He has been selected as Highly Cited Researcher in the field of Social Sciences from Clarivate since 2019 and Most Cited Chinese Researcher in the field of Social Sciences since 2015. For his outstanding contributions to Human Geography, he was elected as Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) in 2023.
