Recently, global information analysis company Elsevier officially released the 2023 Annual List of Highly Cited Scholars in China, with 5801 scholars from 496 universities, enterprises, and research institutions on the list. Eight scholars from our school, including Han Linhai (Civil Engineering), Xiao Jianzhuang (Civil Engineering), Longhualou (Public Management), Chen Wuhua (Electrical Engineering), Lin Weiying (Chemistry), Shen Peikang (Physics), Yu Overcoming (Biology), and Zhu Helping (Applied Economics), were selected for the list, an increase of two from 2022.
This list is published by the renowned information analysis company Elsevier, using the globally authoritative citation and index database Scopus as the statistical source of research achievements of Chinese scholars. The method developed by Shanghai Soft Science Education Information Consulting Co., Ltd. is used to analyze and identify Chinese scholars at different stages of their research careers from multiple dimensions, and systematically display their research performance. This ranking not only aims to systematically display the current distribution of talents in China's scientific research field, but also accurately presents the composition and academic influence of advantageous disciplines of various institutions and universities, as well as top talents in key technology research and key fields.
The basic data extraction of highly cited scholars in this study has been further optimized and updated using the first level discipline classification mapping of the Ministry of Education of Elsevier (covering 111 disciplines), which has made the data on subject attribution and performance of Chinese scholars more intuitive and systematic. It has also brought outstanding scholars in sub disciplinary fields with more Chinese regional characteristics into the public eye.
