Recently, the China Chamber of Commerce announced the results of the 2023 Science and Technology Award of the China Chamber of Commerce. Wang Shuangfei, an academician of the CAE Member and professor of Guangxi University, won the highest science and technology award for business in China. He is one of the only two winners and the first individual to win the award in Guangxi.
The Science and Technology Award of the China Federation of Commerce is an award approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the National Office of Science and Technology Awards. It is a sub award of the highest science and technology award in the country, aimed at establishing outstanding figures in scientific and technological innovation in the commercial and related manufacturing industries, and leading industry technological progress. The China Federation of Commerce Science and Technology Award - the highest science and technology award in China's business sector - has been established since 2021, and a total of 7 people have won the award so far.
Professor Wang Shuangfei was elected as an academician of the CAE Member in 2021. In the past 30 years, Academician Wang Shuangfei has led the Clean Pulp and Paper Making and Pollution Control Team of Guangxi University. In response to the long-standing bottleneck problem of foreign enterprises monopolizing the core technology of pulp clean bleaching and seriously affecting the healthy development of China's paper industry, he has independently innovated the key technology and equipment system for large-scale chlorine dioxide preparation and pulp clean bleaching, breaking the long-term monopoly of foreign enterprises and becoming the mainstream technology of clean bleaching internationally, with a market share of over 80%, effectively promoting the leapfrog development of China's pulp bleaching. The related achievements have won the second prize of the National Technology Invention Award in 2019. Academician Wang Shuangfei led a team to develop a key technology and equipment system for efficient treatment and resource utilization of typical light industry wastewater, in response to the global challenges of pollutant concentration and difficult biodegradation in the wastewater industry. This system broke the monopoly of foreign companies and has been promoted and applied in more than 200 domestic and foreign enterprises. The series of achievements won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award in 2016. In the past two years, Academician Wang Shuangfei has led a team to undertake the national key research and development plan project "Biopaper Technology and Industry Demonstration", focusing on the urgently needed independent core technology and equipment for green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of papermaking. The project aims to achieve "near zero" discharge of wastewater, achieve "increased production without increasing pollution", and provide technical support for promoting industry scientific and technological progress, optimizing and upgrading industrial structure, and implementing the strategy of ecological civilization construction.
