On March 12th, the Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award Committee released the list of awarding projects for the 2023 Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award. As the first unit to complete the project "Key Technologies and Engineering Applications for Quantitative Durability Design of Concrete Structures in Offshore Engineering", our school won the first prize of the 2023 Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award. The project was completed under the leadership of Professor Yang Lufeng from the School of Civil and Architectural Engineering of our school, and it was the first time our district won the first prize in this award.
This project has developed a complete set of key technologies for quantitative design of concrete durability in offshore engineering structures with independent intellectual property rights. It has successfully solved the international challenges of quantitative design of concrete materials and structural durability. For the first time at home and abroad, the concrete structure design concept of "strength and durability are equally emphasized" has been achieved in terms of model, process, and technology, effectively improving the durability of marine concrete structures, reducing engineering costs, carbon emissions, and achieving significant economic and environmental benefits. The research achievements have been included in the national engineering construction design standards, won 41 international and national patents, 7 computer software copyrights, published 84 papers (40 included in SCI and EI), won the Chinese Patent Excellence Award (2020), the first prize of the Chinese Engineering Construction Standard Science and Technology Innovation Award (2020), and the Gold Award of the Guangxi Invention and Creation Achievements Exhibition and Trade Fair (2012), and promoted and applied to construction projects, bridge projects, harbor terminals and other engineering projects in the "the Belt and Road" countries such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Cameroon, Tanzania, etc.
The Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award was established in 2002, approved by the National Science and Technology Awards Office and established in the form of social power awards. It is one of the highest awards in the field of construction science and technology in China, aimed at rewarding organizations and citizens who have made important contributions in the construction industry, promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into productivity, and improving the comprehensive technical level of the industry.
